Default Gas Charged Hood Hinges?

Hey guys, well as I'm bolting on the new sheetmetal, I went to the storage unit and picked out the hood hinges, one of them had been broken previously and someone tried to weld the piece back together. This got me thinking, does anyone offer a gas charged shock to replace the hood hinge springs. I guess it would just make for a cleaner look, and smoother operation. Has anyone had exp. doing this? Also, I'd like to do this to the trunk as well to eliminate the spring rods. As always any insight on the matter would be great, thanks

Also, I don't wanna pay $625 for billet DSE hinges!! LOL
