The con I see, and why I am using a mechanical lever, is that is just a parking brake, not an emergency brake. There is no way to modulate the braking to the axle, it's either on or off, so locked up or free wheeling. If you were in a situation and lost brakes on your car (especially track), you can at least modulate a lever by keeping the release pushed with your thumb (we all did this right after learning to drive!).
