Notching stck front frame for tire clearance 69 Camaro. - Lateral-g Forums

VERY timely info guys.

I was litterally coming on here to start asking about 69 Camaro subframes. I've already powdercoated my subframe and bought a pile of aftermarket suspension for it. The car is now being minitubbed and a 4-link going in, I want her sitting nice and low with some big feet. Seems I need to rethink the front to match the low and wide wheels/tire theme.

So I started thinking about selling everything I had bought already for the front and just getting a complete assembly (DSE / Morrison etc') but that's a crapload of cash ($5k-$6k)

. Many great things about going that route (handling & rack being two of them) but given the goal is 90% street car, there's probably a LOT I can do with my stock frame for a LOT less money and still meet the same goals. So this thread is perfect. I've since noticed some imperfections in the subframe so it needs to be welded on and re-coated anyways. I'm going to take the subframe to my welder/suspension guy and ask what he thinks

I am looking at doing the same to a 68 I am working on.

There is plenty of beef in the frame should be a piece of cake.

theres no need to notch a stock frame, you can run a 18x9.5 with just a steering stop and a small decrease in turning radius, carlc drives the hell out of his car on track and street and runs 9.5 wide wheels and 275/35/18 at all 4 corners, check his site out

Yeah but his car sits a little high imo....So i'm thinking the notch would help on that side (?)

mark magers car lateral one also had 275's on the front with a stock sub you got air ride right? who cares when your driving

I want to ride low all the time. Thats the problem i have. (I'm not into 4 wheeling

My idea is that by slicing the frame a bit i (maybe) could run short A- arms and/ or change to an even more agressive backspacing wheel to pull the tire in as it would give me the clearance i'm losing on the outside back on the inside . 'Still running low, but with a wide patch that has the space to move around.

Just trying to see if its feasible and if its a good idea...

Now that just got me to think about track width. How does that effect the whole thing?

Lead i am happy you took this up! I have been asking this same several times without any real info of notching stock frame. Do you remember twister ? It had 275s(?) at front and A arms ( and frame??) was modified . So notching cant be that hard to do.
