It's gonna cost you some bucs to add an AOD and do it right so it will last. You may want to stick with the set up you have now.

I went the Lentech route that makes a beefed up AOD to handle the torque of the 390 and comes with an FE bellhousing to mate up to the 390. You are looking at $3k+. If you go the adaptor route, you still need to find an AOD and have it built to handle the torque. That still may cost you $2k+ combined.

to me a overdrive is well worth if you want to drive the car on there interstates alot. i love the aode in my 68 mustang
