Scott, Nice car! Your car would be more similar to my next pro-touring Camaro! Thanks for the information above. As for Item # 3 I have tripped accross the problem I was predicting...
Sunday I reinstalled the engine with the T-56 "Viper" transmission to establish where to cut hole in tunnel for shifter (this car has been an Automatic car its whole...most recently a dragster by the most previous owner)...the shifter box on top of the transmission is about 2 to 2-1/2" below top of tunnel. It is being held down by an interference at 1). the Dodge Viper conversion plate (from dodge to gm) that is behind the bell housing and 2). A 2"+/- section behind the conversion plate that are part of of the D&D Performance T-56 GM Viper assembly. What i was planning to do is mark the interference location, cut the 3" or so strip out of the top of the tunnel to see if that elimnates the interference and allows enough room for normal torquing of the trans during violent burnouts! Then figure out how to reinstall sheetmetal with a minimal hump to complete the tunnel. One other complication is that I am putting in a stock console with the guage pack...I am hoping this potential new hump in the tunnel will be behind the console. Please let me know if you or anyone you know have run into this problem before... Is there possibly a new larger tunnel out there that accomodates this transmission? Thanks, Randyf
