FUnny how we all really use the same technique that is almost exactly how I do it.I dont use the dodge and burn though I do my highlights and shadows on separate layers maybe thats why I ahve so many damn layers whne I am done.LOL

Just shows that it's not the tools that make the art. Everyone here works in at least similar ways with the same tools but with totally different, unique results. The dodge and burn might not work for you Zee, you just keep doing what you're doing cause it kicks heavy ass. hehe.
