Okay I will say it. Yes, make the trade.

But before anyone can really answer - what are your plans for the car/motor and usage? If it's a weekend car and won't be taken on long trips and more of a street bruiser with low gears and the TH400, sure.

But if you want daily drivability, decent mileage, lower maintenane, and a lot less power (as they are configured now) keep the LS1.

Heck, the LS1 is already getting to be a dated engine! What are we up to these days, like LS50 already?!

You mean you havent hauled that motor home yet HEllll yes trade sounds like a great lil motor and those 400's are getting pretty hard to find!

I would be tempted to trade motors...not the trans, and then sell the 400 sbc to fund a LS2! If you think it would be an easy sell...

Currently you are setting the car up for an LSx motor/trans...that is smart! They are the present and future and are killer motors! BUT as you know it takes a few extra parts to do the LSx swap. Sounds like you are well on your way there! No way I would consider going back to a gen 1 sbc at this point!

Honestly if I didn't have to change soooo many parts (including trans) to go with an LSx I would have done it by now...but it's just too many expensive parts to change!

Stay LSx, the car will drive awesome and if you want to upgrade later to a newer version LSx w/ more inch and more power or TT's, you already have the car setup! And I have to believe that LSx motors in these cars helps resale anymore....

If his 406 build is so great, why is he willing to trade?

I'd keep the ls1/t56 combo.
