Import scene is dead now.. or at least not near what it was. We killed a couple of import mags along with KIT CAR.

Most of the observations in that story are dead on true

I saw a truck in town with "My lug nuts have more torque than your import" in vinyl lettering on his back glass.

I still roll with laughter every time I see a kid with his pants buckled at his knees and his unders showing. In prison that means he's available. To me it's just comic fodder. 'I just don't understand'

The whole ricer thing died when everyone figured out that it takes 30-40k to make a four cylinder turbo motor fast. The whole low-buck, build it in your driveway thing, we are young and this is our way of doing it, died pretty fast after that (not to mention the expensive, complicated, electronic computer thing)

Hot Rodding was built on the do-it-yourself, in your drive-way, low buck, innovation, parts swapping, the engine from one model into the bay of another model, premise.
Yes, we have come a long way, but we are still pulling motors out of esclade's swaping them into Camaros. Trying to swap Corvette brakes onto anything with 5 on 4 3/4 bolt patterns. Ford electric fans into everything.

I don't know what you're going to swap into the 2010 Camaro, but by 2040 we should know.

Agreed.

I belong to a few Subaru forums, and the "us versus them" mentality is slowly dissapearing. Of course, the Suby crowd is typically more open minded then the hon-duh folk.

I have considered breaking into my WRX, but it is hard to justify spending the money on a catless turbo back exhaust, when I could pick up a Gen 3 5.3 with low miles for the same price. With a warantee.

I do get a fair amount of hate from the domestic camp when driving around in the Subaru. It is the same old ignorant crap that I am sure that you guy's get from the uneducated import crowd. Know-it-all ding dong's are everyware.

I am as annoyed by a punk who hangs cherry bombs off his 5.0 as I am by a Honda with a cheap fart can.

There are Bitchen' 5.0's and Bitchen' Honda's. But none of them are slow. It is all good, just the flavor of fast that you like.

If you make fun of an import or domestic, be prepared to remove your wallet, insert money in mouth, and wash it down with a big swig of haterade.

I agree Shiro. Fast is fast. Where I live in Hawaii, the import scene is still bigger than the domestic scene, but there are some ligit fast cars. Most of them are fast from the factory like the Evos or WRXs, but there are definately still some well modified older 300ZXs, new 350Zs, etc. There are also plenty of cartoon looking goofy "ricers" as people like to call them.
