Battle Axe

and not turboed. Built by Alan Johnson as well. I see a trend

You may be thinking of the other Bob Johnson. I believe his black 69 was turbo charged. twins if I am not mistaken. His was a slightly different car on the outside though. I want to say his was a convertible but that doesn't seem right.

That is a great story. Very cool how neither Alan and Bob knew about it either.

That old saying 'its the thought that counts' at the end of the day, that's what really matters when gifts are given. Obviously a lot of thought went into your wife's gift Doug.

i could see my wife buying me a car. kinda like me buying her a gift for her Birthday or Christmas or blah blah blah..We both see something we want, we buy it..so everyday is a birthday, christmas or whatever. She doesn't want anything I pick out so I gave up years ago. She turned 62 on Feb 13. It was snowing outside but that didn't stop her from going shopping and buying herself a Cartier Ring and Cartier Bracelet that she had been eyeing. She was even more excited when she found out the bracelet had been made in the first year (1970) they made this style bracelet..1970 also happens to be my oldest daughter's birth year..someone asked me what my wife thought about me going back to Bonneville after the chute failure that made me crash and destroyed my car. She told me if I was going out there and kill myself, then to please get rid of all these cars and junk around here...She didn't want to have to deal with it after I was gone..lol..i sent Doug an email joke...I told Doug this reminded me of my wife and myself. A man is on his deathbed. just barely hanging onto life. He smelled something cooking and it was Chocolate Chip Cookies..His favorite thing in the world was his wife's homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies..He had a small burst of energy and crawled out of the bed and down the hall on all fours..He reached up on the table from the floor and tried to get a cookie. His wife hit him on the back of the hand with a spatula. She said git yo hands off dem...They's for the funeral..

Is this you Scott? did something happen to your wagon at The Optima Challenge? Alan is about to get my 58 Caballero Wagon ready to drive..Got Evod making me a set of one offs for it..kinda mimicking a 59 Buick hub cap..should be pretty neat if it comes out like I envision..i bought Charlie Lilliards 32 3 window coupe at Barrett Jackson. It's a neat little car..AND it was CELEBRITY OWNED>>lol..

Doug, it may have you been you driving it at the time, but I remember a few years ago at Columbus Goodguys I heard something pretty mean sounding at the hotel next door and walked over just in time to see the end of the Battle Axe doing a nasty ass burnout in the back of the hotel parking lot - and then quickly parking - of course.

Did I already say that it sounds NASTY! Oh yeah, cuz it does!

Considering this is what Doug does for fun, I'd bet you're right, Brandon
