Default LS question

I have a stock 5.3. A friend has an LS6 intake and heads that he will practically give to me. I was planning on changing the cam as well, but otherwise leave the bottom end stock.

My question is this:

Has anyone ran these heads on a 5.3 and had good results?

When I change the intake, are the sensors interchangeable or will I be changing the pigtails to work with my wiring harness?

Stock for Stock the LS6 heads flow quite a bit better, but have a little bit bigger combustion chamber so you would lose a little bit of compression. I would say you would gain more in flow than you would lose in compression though. Plus you could always deck the heads some to get your compression back. I do believe a lot (if not all) LS6 heads came with sodium filled valves as well. Just make sure the heads have 243 stamped on them or they are not LS6.

As far as the intake goes the throttle body bolts on with all the sensors. The map sensor should work off the truck intake as well, but you may have to grind one side smooth to snap into the LS6 intake.

Hands down both would be worth upgrading too.

edit: I did forget to add, the truck intake flows about the same as a LS6 intake down low, but up top around 5000 rpms, I believe is where the LS6 takes over.

Thanks for the reply....I had heard it was not worth changing to an LS1 intake so I just wanted to make sure the LS6 would be beneficial.

LS1 intake would probably be a step backwards over the Truck intake actually.
