Its kind of up to you on where you want your car to be set at. How much time are you really going to spend on the track or at an Auto-x event? Is your car more for fun? 4 speeds are great and so are 6 speeds but then you need to think about gears and wheel size and weight and make it all work for you.
I currently have my original 396, th400 and 12 bolt in my car and it kicks butt on the street and at the track. I just need to do one more gear change and one more suspension mod and I think I can start knocking off some time on the road corse.

Forgot to mention, I have done a ton of work to my car. 625hp and 588lbtq helps out a lot, not to mention all of the suspension work
