Default update time

Rich Bermea -- of Road Touring Customs in Gilroy, CA -- have been working on "Phase 2" of my Camaro with the sole purpose of getting it race and road-trip ready for RTTC II in February. Rich is a great dude and knows and loves Camaros. He just posted his own 68 Camaro build thread yesterday - "Pro Vintage." Check it out.

So.. just a few days ago I was almost set on getting the Liberty upgraded TKO 600 to replace my M-21, but after continuing to uncover bad seals and gaskets causing endless leaks on this car and motor, we decided to pull the motor and just reseal everything pretty much everywhere. So, that decision killed the tranny budget for now.

The trans, clutch, motor and most major parts look to be in pretty good condition, and I have put 500 pretty hard (ok, very hard) miles on this car since I got it 4 months ago. It came with a fair amount of paperwork, but many things are still a mystery... some we hope to uncover very soon.

We got the motor pulled today and while I'm on vacation Rich will start on tearing the motor down, inspecting and resealing/gasketing. When I get back we will finish the rear suspension, brakes, trans, and a few other small things... wait, is anything ever really small?

Pics from today.

I'm really diggin the red Comp Cams stud girdle.

My rear Willwood kit with the obligatory beverage and Red Witch guide book.

I finally became bumperless.

My attempt at a Steve Rupp-esque photo. LOL

Like the updates, leaks suck.

That is exactly what has kept My Chevelle off the road for eight years and has now lead Me to change directions and make it a race car.

What all do you have done to your engine is it a 350 or 383?

Thanks Mike. Yeah man I have been wanting to see your car run hard for a couple years now!

Ya know... maybe. We are gonna play with ride height after the new pan and taller tires and maybe gain a tad bit of clearance, so maybe I will be okay. I still like the idea of it as I drive hard on the streets and seem to not pay enough attention to the sh!tty streets and highways here in the bay!

Man that is the hardest thing to deal with right now... I am very dedicated to keeping this on task and on budget... within reason of course.

Ouch Dan. This thing was close to a race car when I got it I was thinking.

This destroked 400 (377 cubes) was in the car when I got it 4 months ago. It has a very big solid roller and Brodix Track 1 215cc heads and revs hard to 7k where I have the rev limiter set currently.
