Thanks for the best DesMoines autocross yet! The course was really fast and we had a great time. Trent and his group put on an awesome event.
The crowds were huge this year as well and the commentary from Mr. Bang Shift himself, Chad Reynolds, was the icing on the cake. He needs to be at every one of these. That guy is killer!

Chris, great driving man. If you almost took out Tucker, you are hauling the mail. What suspension, tires, weight?

Kyle and I were really close most of the weekend. All day Saturday I was off his best in the '70 by .032 seconds. As usual he pulled the rabbit out of the hat on his last runs in both cars and set his fast times of the event. I still ran about a half a second quicker than he did in Stacy's car. I could not have been more pleased with the results. If I can be that close to Kyle's times in the big old Chevelle I'm a happy guy.
Check the build thread for details on the car. It's an all new chassis from Roadster Shop/RS Performance with their own design IRS. This is the first one on the street and we only had about 50 miles on it before my wife and I drove the car out to DesMoines. Still running the same Michelin PS2s as last year, 275s and 335s.

Very nice, the road race video was impressive. I didn't hear a squeak out of those tires. Seems like a very good chassis.

Default Goodguys Heartland AutoCross

I am glad you all like the track at Des Moines, Trent and the crew have a lot of work there as they have to tear it all down for the stock cars to use the area after Friday and set it all up Saturday morning. I will let Trent know his work is appreciated by all.

Yes Chad does add to the AutoCross and we work with him at the beinging of the year to get him to as many as we can. He has the mouth for AutoCross for sure, and he can drive pretty good too!

As always we at Goodguys will work to make the AutoCross the best we can as we know that cars in motion are better than just sitting.

This is my first post after lurking here for a few years now, just saw the results for the autocross posted. I was there, and ran 23rd of the 39 cars in SM class, and my first time ever entering any event like that. I definitely had a blast, and got to drive the Camaro that I had actually sold over 9 years ago, and it was the first for the car as well! Havent missed a Good Guys Heartland show for as long as I can remember, and always watched the event, but running it was totally addicting! Just too bad the weekend was so short, I barely walked around and looked at any of the cars in the show.
The Camaro I was driving is back at my shop for a complete teardown after being built between '99 and '01, and with the mods in the works now, I hope to be able to get it back next year to see how good it can do!
The car belongs to a guy in Hunnington Beach CA now, whos become one of my best friends over the years, and met thorugh the ebay sale of the car. Of all the cars I've owned (14 first gens, 3 second, 3 fourth and now a 2010) this is by far the most special one to me.
I've always enjoyed reading posts on this site, and hope to post a little bit about the build as I go.
A big thanks goes out to all the people who bust their tails to put on such a cool event!
