I talked to Mike today and discussed about when I get there Friday the 26th I'll either leave the trailer there and get a room for some sleep and load it Saturday or if I get there early enough load it and lock it up there and get the room and meet Mike Saturday to hook up and leave for home.

I'm going to use a U Haul open trailer because I don't have access to one thats enclosed. I'm not too crazy about that. The bottom is finish painted and the center of the trailer is open to the road. I'm thinking of trying to put something across the opening to protect the bottom of the car. I was thinking maybe some plywood with 2x4"s screwed together pinching the trailer ramps. Any one have any ideas????

Thumbs up

That's awesome she is finally coming home with you Wayne. I bet you cannot wait to see it in person and finally pick it up. If I was still out of work, I would gladly go down with you, if you wanted the company/help, that is.
Good luck bud!

That's great Wayne! Personally I'd load up on the day I was leaving, just so thieves can't pull up the night before and hook up.

Also just a thought, 3m makes a sticky, peelable plastic you might want to use on the bottom of the car for the trip home. It'll protect against road grime/grease and minor debris.

Bring her home safe brother!

Tony your right I can't wait!
Ron Thats the way I'm thinking of doing it, on Sat. Even if we loaded on Friday it would be locked in his shop with the alarms and big dogs it would be pretty safe.
I have a car cover my daughter bought me so I will cover it for the ride home plus Mike wants to plastic wrap with shipping wrap to keep it safe. I'm just figuring closing in the bottom of the trailer would keep anything from being kicked up from the road.

Wayne,

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT transport that car with a cover on it! On an open trailer the car cover will do far more damage than anything. The wind whipping will beat the car to death with the cover. Putting something on the deck to close it in from road debris is fine, but leave the cover off. I have witnessed the carnage personally. Even the rolled shrink wrap can come loose and whip. The only thing I would do in that regard is get a boat dealer to truly "shrink" wrap it. By the time you spend that kind of money, you could hire a company to haul it in an enclosed insured trailer. JMO Good luck Buddy! Can't wait to see pics of it in the garage.

I would NOT cover the car while towing -- the loose cover will flap etc and beat the snot out of it.
