I think the bearings are ok stock rear is 60'' wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface to fit the wheels you have needs to be 54.5 to 55in wheel mounting surface i think you are measuring 55'' before the axles when you say flange you mean rearend and i mean axle flange
the 9in rear needs to be 5'' shorter them stock
hope this make sense

The only measurement that means anything is Wheel Mount Surface(WMS)to WMS. My 18x12 5.5" bs are mounted on a 57" WMS to WMS Moser 9" full floater housing. If you narrow the housing consider changing to Big Ford ends they use a much larger bearing. Or you could install a full floater hub kit from Moser. Since you need to narrow the rear housing anyway, just be sure to look at all your options first.

Guy's took the rearend out tonight and stripped it down, going to take it and have it cut down this week, with just the bare housing from flange to flange it measures like 54 1/8 basically 54in,so with that said if i have it cut to 50in total width flange to flange i should be fine right?Sorry to keep going on about this but just want to be sure.THANKS!

one more question guy's,i'm looking at a couple of different housing ends and i'm thinking about these which would be big ford old style 1/2 billet housing ends from moser, now there is a big ford new style (3.562in x 2.000) and also big ford (3.500in x2.3750 with 1/2in mounting holes)any preference.THANKS!
