Update! Now that the Camaro is pretty close to finishing.. We have been working on the Mustang... We cut out the factory rocker panels & built a custom set by bending, rolling & welding a set out of .120 1018 plate..
Working on getting them fit & welded so we can start the firewall fabrication ..

Rockers out of .120 plate ? That seems a little overkill !

Not too me when it is the main chassis structure of the car! When I start building the floors & firewall it will make more sense on why we built our rocker panels the way we did..

A lot of builders do this to stiffen up the car. Some even build all the way up the "A" & "B" Pillar.

The Marlboro Syclone that I owned "A" & "B" Pillar were done this way for the Targa Top conversion. Also the Windsheild post was filled with Liquid Steel or something similar.

We got changes going on this Mustang... My blank canvas idea with a full custom chassis & floors had to change.. The owner wants to keep it a bit more simple since it will be his son's first car.. but these changes are not a bad thing.. cause I had to give up something to get something new.. those changes will come later when I have a design layout... The structure will still be stiffened up & the floor mated pretty decent to the new rockers we fabricated.. The Coyote motor is a challenge with the transmission.. Their was talk today about a LS motor.. but was able to keep the motor we started with..
