I would love to just get my Ford back from the dealer. I have not seen it for more then 6 hours since a week before Thanksgiving. Maybe I should clean the injectors.

Would love to, but I'm kinda backed into a corner on the resale on this thing also. So I'm just going to ride out the warranty on this terd until I can get a duramax. I'm not sure if I would go New or buy a low mileage use done. Pre emissions would be nice, but the new ones look way better. But this one would be a 3/4 ton. No need for a big boy with the Freightliner now.

Pre-emissions GM duramax's like to puke fuel into the crankcase. I worked across from the diesel guys at the dealer, and we had one guy full time that all he did was replace injectors. The allison transmission is having computer issues on those ones too.

Im in the market for a 2500, and I want a 496 Big Block truck! I might settle for this bad boy though:

as far as Duramaxes go, I've always heard that an '06 was the year to go with. (no emissions, and all the injector bugs were worked out) This coming from the techs at the GM dealerships that I have worked at. But I dont own a diesel anything, so thats all I can offer to this thread.

Maybe change locations, since engines are AIR pumps not SMOG pumps....

I have been thinking about my '06 6.0 powerstroke also. It has 125k on it now and is not running as smooth as it used to. Maybe cause I ran out of fuel about 5k ago and had to jack with it for awhile before I got it to pick up again. Dash said 13 miles till empty and I was about 1 1/2 miles from the station I was heading to! DooH!! Hasn't ran real smooth since.

I have already put an EGR delete and good studs and gaskets under the heads, so THAT problem is hopefully fixed.

I think my Ford F350 6.0 has served me well with 87K miles -- but they're 90% all highway and dragging the trailer. I'm still on the ORIGINAL BRAKES! Had to have the front suspension rebuilt 10K miles ago... and had to have some deal I'd never heard of in high pressure fuel system rebuilt - that was causing the engine to start hard and idle rough... that was about 4 grand... but I think that's pretty good service for almost 90K miles of trailer hauling. The brakes don't get used much because I have the full Banks deal and it has a "jake brake" deal on it. Go all the way down a steep grade and never touch the brakes even once. Works super sweet and is worth the cost of the full system just for that!
