Great thread. Should be a killer build. Love those valve covers.

Started to shave the drip rails today. I am cutting the drip rails in 6 inch sections and welding them up before moving on to the next 6 inch section.

I like that idea! We just hacked mine off and then welded very very slowly...

Hahaha...I did the same thing Ron. Hacked the whole side off. I like the 6-inch-at-a-time-idea. Maybe, I can get it right when I start on my C10.

You're not kidding, I have much respect for these custom shops and their metal fabricators. Unfortunatley, I've got more time than money so I am doing it myself. Although in the end I am sure it will be much more gratifying.

Unfortunately no, but I also have another build going on for my charity and this topic came up on that thread. Although I am sure it is going to be awesome when it is done, the custom frame has been a huge thorn in my side. Here is my response to your question from my other build thread as well as the link to that thread;

https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=41587

It is still in jail at Dominator Street Rods. The body is pretty much complete and waiting to be mated to the custom frame. In the past 6 or 7 months Dominator has been very busy. Leonard even hired 3 more people to keep up, so my frame has been on the back burner. He says we should be back on it in the next few weeks, so hopefully I will have some updates. In the meantime I need to continue with growing my non-profit organization. One of the programs I am trying to develop is a build program to get some of the at-risk and underprivileged youth to learn to work along side off duty police officers and fire fighters building cars. Those cars will then be auctioned off to raise money for the charity. I am hoping this build will be the first step in that process.

Starting a non-profit organization with everything I would like to accomplish has been very draining on both my bank account and my time. I was hoping to have the memorial police car done by the time I would start the first build but since I am at the mercy of several other people I just have to keep pushing forward with other aspects of my charity.

The memorial car will not be sold. It belongs to the organization and will be used as a tool to develop the build program as well as pay respect to all the men and women of law enforcement who gave their lives in the line of duty.
