So this is what I'm thinking -- two car stacker - M2 truck - with some living quarters in the stacker.

Although not this ugly....

The problem with a truck like that is that because it's not an RV you will have to get a license to drive that rig, Legally. Even with my F-450 I was required to have a license legally. But those M2 class trucks have never really impressed me, they lack power and seem to be horrible rattle traps. I kinda thought with all the drama you "could" have to entail you might as well go to a real truck. That's how I ended up where I'm at.

Not sure what they do about that -- as far as a CDL -- because you're right - the Truck GVWR might make it just enough that a CDL is required. I'll have to ask DMV about it. The trailer would have living space but it's not motorized.

So maybe back to the Toter - with a gooseneck two car stacker.

I don't know about that, if it is not commercial, you shouldn't have to have anything special to drive it. In theory, he could flat out buy a semi, and drive it with nothing special, as long as it is personal. This is a big discussion on other boards with people that move personal loads that have some weight to them.

not in my state he couldn't. Needs a commercial license for three axles over 6000 pounds.

You guys will be sick of this thread -- but I FINALLY ordered the trailer that I need and was my original "idea" back about 2 years ago... with a few mods -- mostly -- it's going to be built all "racer boy" in the interior -- as in aluminum skinned cabinets (in red) - like a high end tool box - with stainless steel counter tops -- like you'd have in a nice shop.... and coin floor done black and white checkered... even the dinning table is going to be stainless steel top.

28' box - 14' living quarters - so 50' overall including the 8' "overhead"
going with ATC trailer - all aluminum
triple axles - spread
diesel gen
heat & A/C
Extra height
all white .050 skin --- Will do something like a wrap for flames etc
Girard awning
slide out where sofa is

single car

Waiting for them to give me weight so I can order a new truck.

Deposit wired today - to Poulsen Trailers in Logan Utah. Dave Poulsen has worked with me for about 2 years and stuck by me thru all the iterations -- and even when I told him about the giant rig he was enthusiastic and gracious.

This last trip with the roadster -- going with two other rigs -- made me realize that too big is stupid -- it's the most fun with OTHER PEOPLE - and Other people don't have giant azz rigs... and when we're all together at some track event -- we can just use the crap out of it and nothing will get scratched or dirty etc... it's just going to be a nice big toolbox with a refer and a toilet and I can make coffee and get out of the heat or rain.

Hopefully a regular 3500 dually will pull that, legally. Then you will keep your GVW down and keep you below the DOT radar.

In correct a semi truck is considered a comercial vehicle because it is over 24,000 lbs.
