There's a class-action going on for this problem but it only addresses the E46, MY 1999-2006, "3 series" sedans/convertibles as Class Action vehicles, not the Z3.

Ok first the car is almost 10 years old. what I am getting at is, this should not happen to a car that is JUST street driven normally. It was checked by an BMW cert dealer, and they determined that he could get it fixed with $2500. Even though it is going to be a major repair. Mpozzi, thank you for the info, i will pass it on to him. I am sure he will be happy to see this. I still would sudj you guys not buy crap from BMW considering how this whole situation has been handled by them.
