There is one way to build these things if they are going to last, the right way. Glad Watson is blue printing the entire engine.
Yeah I shoulda known.... it was a good chance it would turn out this way.

Yep I brought it to Watson for a reason... if I didn't allow them to do their thing what would be the point right?

Exactly As customers we have the desire for big power and reliability but can't easily accept the expense associated with it.

The more stories I read about people trying to get the most for their money (natural human trait) the more I understand the prices of Watson, Mast, etc. Building motors right has to be a tough sales job and somewhat thank-less business in many cases from my observations over the years. Think of the number of hours they spend educating people who realistically can't afford their product.

Then comes the customer obligation to properly maintain what their desires built which is somewhat like going through a buffet line when you're starving and then having to eat everything you piled on your plate.

Make sure you ship your brand new motor to Steve's Auto Restoration (S.A.R.) in Portland Oregon --- so they can fire it off and run it with no oil...

Get's everything seated right off the bat.

Do they do that for everyone or only the high roller customers

Aww man sorry Dave. At least you know Watson is checking EVERYTHING and you will eventually get a motor that will last.

That sucks about the engine but at least you know you'll be able to beat on is good once you get it back.

I've never seen a main cap walk issue. Did Watson show you the issue or do you have any pics of it? I'm interested to see what it looks like.

You also mention the wrong rings and bearings. I assume they where sized correctly, what did he say saw wrong with them? Since I'm building up my engine I'm interested to know more.

Yep. He showed me some of the issues while we talked. No pics tho.

Rings were not necessarily wrong per se... just not good for my application per Watson. They were napier 2nd rings. They want to switch those out.

Bearings he said were mismatched. They were a mixture of hard and soft. A throw together job it appears.
