				 Car Seat Install?

Has anyone done a car seat latch retrofit? Id like to install a booster seat in my car.
Or is it best to just use the rear lap belts?

I haven't done it yet, but I plan to in my '72 Suburban. I'm going to make something that bolts into the factory seat mounts.
I haven't quite planned it out in my head yet, but I plan to make it pretty robust just to be on the safe side. I've used the lap belts to fasten the kids' seats in, but it's a PITA!

You'll need a 3 point harness to use a booster seat... they say not to use lap only belts on boosters.

Here is what I did for my kids in the back seat. I have two boys 8 and 7.
I put a "eye" in the package tray behind the speakers, and purchased something like this for a school bus. It attaches to the eye on top, and the lap belts go thru a loop at the bottom. The eye I purchased was from a 2000 honda, my daily driver at the time. It was their car seat hook.

It is like a 4 point harness.

Because it is made for a bus it is still a little long for my kids, 8 and 7.

I purchased mine here as they were local to me.

Are you talking about a booster or a car seat?
With a car seat you can use just the lap belt to hold that in.

 | This - Im not sure why the Latch system would be any safer than a lap belt (without the top rear latch point) as they both hold the seat in the same spots.

However, that upper middle latch point is key.

I have one booster and one car seat. The booster seat uses the two hooks between the seat back and cushion but they didnt start putting those in cars until 2002 i think. Lap belts would work but I dont have any rear lap belts right now.
