Dakota Digital Cooling Fan Controller Help

Hello, Im wireing up my fans with this fan controller and I want to ask people that know what they are doing instead of guessing.

Looking at this Diagram dose the Black wire from the relays go to the Red wires to the fans? Then Ground the black wire from the fan to the body.

It showes Fan PWR +12V Green wire, dose that go to my orange wire 12 V coming from the fuse box? It states to connect to fused 12v Battery CIRCUIT that can run cooling fans. I have no idea what that means and Im Guessing it s the orange wire from the fuse box to power the fans.

and lastly it said to connecct the red wire to a fused 12v battery, can I just use a slot on the fues box marked B for this?



Thanks for any help, im sure this is really easy to most but I just want to make sure.

Ok heres what is going on with the relays.

Because fans can be high load, what they are doing is using the fused electric fan wire to "energize" the relays, but the relay itself is transfering the 12v positive battery connection to the fans.

If you are running an AAW Classic Update wiring kit, you will have an optional lead for fans, which I believe is a larger orange wire. This wire is an IGN fused wire, under the FANS fuse on the panel. By using this for the green wire on the Dakota Digital Relays, the battery can never transfer power to the fans unless the key is on, but the LOAD will not be pulled through the AAW circuit.

The fan on inputs are negative grounds from the Fan control box, which cause the relay to transfer the power from the battery to the fans when they are triggered.

So:
Green= orange AAW wire or a fused IGN circuit
Red = 12 volt battery which you can pull from the AAW harness in the accessory plug (6 way black plug by the fuse panel)

White = inputs from the fan controller
Black = positive side of your fans to make it SPIN THE RIGHT WAY! (you could send power to either side of the fan to go clockwise or counter clockwise, just make sure you are going the right way) , typically they are blue and black leads)

Then just ground the other lead from the fans to a good location.

On a side note, make sure you install the Dakota Digital controller in the car, not under the hood. It isnt weather proof. If this is the case, and you are using the AAW classic update, the orange fan wire will come connected to the firewall bulkhead out of the box. You can de-pin this wire and keep it under the dash for your situation.

Tyler Thanks so much! that is just what I needed to know! I am using AAW kit and my autorad fans have the blue and black wires. Im guessing the black relay wire goes to the blue fan wire to spin the right way?

Thanks again for explaining this all out... Im sure one look and you knew what you where looking at, I just didnt know for sure.

I am fairly certain that it is blue to spin the right way, but you can always de-pin the connector and swap em if its wrong. Use some test leads to a battery and check.

No problem helping, we are an AAW dealer and use this kit alot, along with the Dakota Digital so it was on the tip of my tonque.

Just ask if you are needing any help. Oh an make sure you don't mount the fan module under the hood, it can be ruined with moisture. Glove box side under the dash above the kick panel has lots of extra room for it, but you have to run the wires across. I just know the driver side is a bit tight above the kick panel. Good luck!

Great info.and dont assume the fan is spinnin,the right way by puttin your hand at the frontof the fan..put a piece of paper in front and make sure the papee gets sucked up against the radiator...first ride with a Goodwrench Crate not cooling taught me that one...
