Man am I glad you're a regular poster in Dave's thread! I really dig this project. I had a '68 GT back in 1992-1993. Pulled it out of a field a plopped a 351C in it. Never got it to run right and was broke as an. MF so I sold it after a year or so, but I've always been super fond of these things. Nice job!

Thanks, one day it will run.

Worse than that, I drove cross country with Dave.

I see you are a fellow shifter Kart guy. I bet you miss the AIX stuff.

When are you going to start a build thread on your new 68?

I don't know Dave personally, just through a couple of PMs from yellowbullet, but I like his style...

I've figured out where my pictures are on my computer so I'll get the '68 thread going soon. Heck it's been nearly three years since I blew up the big block that was in it, a few weeks to get a thread going is nothing!

I miss racing my shifter way more than I miss racing the big car. The big car make all the right sounds and looked super, but noting normal people can afford does stuff right like a shifter kart does!

The combo of my size, my kids sports and Track Magic and SCK going out of business sort of put the kibosh of karting for me. I still have 3-4 chassis out in the garage, I sold all my ICC stuff, but still have a Rotax that hasn't been fired up in probably 2 years...

When I was a kid, my neighbor had a badass '69 Torino GT. I loved the car. Sounded right, looked right, everything a kid needed to love a car. When I was 21-22 I got talking to his cousin about the car and he said "you know he had a '68 before the '69" and I asked what happened to the '68... Turned out it was out behind his parents barn. I think I paid his dad soemthing like $500 bucks for it.

Both the cars were red, with a black interior. I swear it must have been the only color Dearborn painted those cars!

Oh shoot! The Cleveland that was in that car came out of Dom Farbo's 71(ish) Torino. He's the guy that just had Ring Brothers build that Blizzard Mustang! Wow... Completely forgot that! Small world I guess.

That is pretty much the holy grail of stock 69 fairlanes right there. It has all th right trim pieces and black is a great color. All it needs is some poverty caps.
