A 509 is likely where I'm gonna end up so I'm interested in this discussion as well. I really wanted to go 522 but can't bring myself to go .060 over on a block just for 13 cubes. Restricting the conversation to BBC builds, I think for a PT type application the big bore, short stroke would be a nice setup. At least that's what I've been led to believe :-). The arguments certainly make sense.

There have been a couple recent builds over on Chevelle forum that have been 4.0" stroke, 4.5"+ bore combos that have yielded great numbers. Lots of good BBC info over there.
