Real forced cold air through driver side halo light. Pretty sweet car. I am thinking it's more than the "announced 707 HP and 650 TQ at the crank.

Tim, the CEO of SRT, is saying it's the fastest muscle car to date.
And also the only muscle car to have that much HP. He is correct on the latter and I am sure that they have tested against other cars, like the GT500 in the quarter mile.
Tones,

For a guy that bleeds Ford 'green', you sure know alot about that porky Challenger.

I wondered that too so I did a little looking. Couldn't find any announcements on it yet.

Dodge products always stuck great motors in cars that couldn't turn left or right... so for me -- it's like who cares. On a twisty road - the base Corvette would probably run away from it.

I had an SRT 8 -- hated it. The 425HP sounded good at the time - it was such a ho hum vehicle that it just sat in the driveway.

What bugged me almost as much as the lame ass motor - was their plastic everything. The "hand" of the controls was so yesterday... especially if you got out of it and then took a ride in my sons Audi S4.... similar costs and the Audi was just so much more car.

The SRT ranked right there with my BMW M5 -- both ranked as two of the most disliked cars I've ever owned --- and I've owned a lot of cars.

Your thoughts echo what I've read about the pre-2015 Challengers interiors.

The Big 3 have really shot themselves for years cheaping out on interiors.

I read the C7 Vettes' is much, much better than past efforts.

Supposedly the 2015 Mustangs' and Challengers' are much better too.

Time will tell.

Camaro and Mustang fans reading your comments could say the same thing "I don't see what all the negativity is about."... right?

Dodge makes plenty of money on them. They could have spent some on giving their customers a high quality interior. That doesn't just come from me, it's a common complaint from owners. Hopefully they did for 2015.

I was interested in it because it is a bigger (and more comfortable car IMO) than the Stang and Camaro. Plus it looks great to me.

It is still a heavy car and it would get beat going through the twisty roads. But, I don't think that the people at SRT had that fact in mind. Plus,...it's still a heavy car. They were going for all drag strip car. They won those bragging rights. For now.
Yep. The Challenger buyer isn't interested in the fastest thing through the twisties. Maybe some of them new 60 series tires would help though.

Kinda funny,
Seems like the same conversation that might have taken place in 1970.
The big powerful Mopar and the nimble ponies......

My thought exactly. Nothing has changed in all these years. Mopar puts out a motor but the car it's in is not worthy. Meanwhile Ford and Chevy duke it out.

(moved from other thread)
The past LX platform was old and outdated circa 1998? It was ok but could use some help. I believe the new model is on the LA platform and im told is superior. We will see.

The multi link rear is well done.

I very happy that we still have rear wheel drive cars.

It surprised me to learn that Dodge was never looking to sell anywhere near as many Challengers as Ford does Mustangs and Chevy does Camaros.

"A Month to Wait for the Hellcat
While those folks looking to buy a 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT, R/T Scat Pack or SRT392 can place their orders right now, the buyers who want the 707 horsepower will have to wait until August 8th. Production is reported to begin on September 2nd so the first Hellcat Challengers almost surely be hitting the roads before Halloween."
