I picked up a 6.0L a few weeks back for $80. I pulled the heads to see what was going on with it and saw the pin on a lifter let loose and the roller bearing fell out. The cam will need to be replaced, but other than that it looks to be rebuildable but would like to have a shop inspect it and give me a professional opinion. Any recommendations on a reputable shop in the Bay Area?
There a guy on the East bay that rebuilds a lot of LS stuff. I'll see if I can get his info for you.
Vince
that's funny Vinny I was going to recommend he take it to you

Best performance machine shop in the SF Bay Area is S&S Automotive in San Leandro.......the Santos family is responsible for effectively outlawing the small block Chevy from NHRA Top Alcohol dragsters when they destroyed the national record and made the Hemi guys cry to the NHRA......when the SBC was effectively banned......they went to a Hemi and destroyed the competition with their own weapon. S&S has CNC block machining equipment, none of the other shops mentioned do......some of which I wouldn't come within 50 yards of their doorsteps. If you want it done right S&S is the go to shop. If you want to change those heads to some LS3 stuff Email me, I have an Edelbrock intake and some real LS3 stuff kicking around.....including valve train parts.
