I bought Rustoleum at HD ... it's in their paint dept. That's exactly why I went with the appliance paint, supposed to be tough as heck .... just like your frig finish! I did epoxy prime before, SPI black and then spray bombed just the package tray and the roll bar ... it did make a mess w over spray thou

Thanks for asking ...

Smile Update 10/10

A little progress to show .... school is in session so I have allocated time to work on the Camaro. Welded the plates in the seat support back, and started fitting the outer AMD skin to the OEM window channel on the diver's side rear window. Left them screwed together and cut thru both pieces of metal at the same time ... came out ok!

I had previously welded on angle across the window opening for a reference ... the passenger side is a little wider and I have to put tension on the drivers side to get that gap ... so I'm just gonna put her back to where GM had it!

Take a look ...

Gonna spray some Eastwood internal frame coating on the underside!

Held in place ... gotta close the gaps a little!

That's the pass side gap at the same spot against the driver's side gap... wider fer sure!

Think I'll leave her the way GM had it .... crappy tolerances!

That's all for now ... gotta get some homework done now!

Thanks for looking ...

Cool Update 10/29

Good day for some Camaro time! Had to use the welder for a heater thou ... yeah it's getting cold here!

Anyway, got the GM window channel welded to the crappy AMD quarter , sanded and hand filed ... minimal skim coat of filler will be fine.

Now I have to weld in the GM corner piece here ... AMD stamping is crap!

MO BETTER!!! It even lines up with the original braces I welded to the inner ... yeah!

This is the next piece that needs welded in ...

I'll have to slice the quarter vertically and fix this mess ... that'll help w the door gaps too!

AMD ... this is what is supposed to look like!

Still plugging away between homework assignments ... hopefully I'll get that other inner corner welded in tomorrow and work on the vertical stuff later. She's getting there, just needed to TLC which AMD didn't bother to apply.

Thanks for looking ...

Then they went to the right build because you've given this project plenty of TLC! Nice job.

Wayne .... thanks, if not for all this TLC I might be driving my Camaro by now! The passenger side quarter is the same crappy stamping as the driver's side I'm working on ....grrrrrr

Default Hi Chief

Hi, I admire your workmanship and dedication mate. It's a shame those quarter panels required so much work to get right, you'd expect much better, I could understand if they were cheap seconds out of Taiwan, I'm only new here as I've mentioned before, and I'm sorry that this will be of no help to you, but we recently fitted a pair of OER brand quarters on my 68 which went on really well, they were quite expensive down here, but it's now apparent they were well worth the money. Keep up the good work Chief. Cheers Trevor.

Car looks really good. Are you using any other brand of replacement panels?

Thanks guys ... it's been a long road to get these AMD parts to fit like the OEM parts. There happens to be an AMD dealer here in town and if I need to return parts it's just a call away ... went through two sets of door skins at their cost!

We've called the AMD center with fitment issues and the answer we get when they check their back stock is "they all look like that!". Oh well... keep plugging away at perfection!

Michael

It's never easy Michael --- that's why many just give up. The real satisfaction is kicking it's ass right back!
