Handling was already 'interesting' on those trucks...before adding a camper.

I love how the camper added length to the truck. That's cool.
Does anyone recognize where this picture was taken?

I grew up camping in stuff like that!! And interesting was -- riding up in the sleeper!! There weren't all these fancy 4 door pick ups back then!

We did have an "intercom" --- to the cab....

That was some fancy shizzle back in the day. I remember the upgrade to a Ford 3/4 ton with helper springs and air shocks - and a 390 cubic inch gas sucking pig.... LOL

I can't imagine how much the old trucks and campers swayed around back then. I have air bags with separate valves with Big Bad Fox shocks set on full stiff, Over load spring spacers to make the springs contact sooner and its still a hand full in a 2015 truck.

But I guess the trucks don't have near the power they do now.

Built this combo with my brother years ago, actually built and sold three trailers. Art Morrison helped with the design of the bagged A arms and fabbed them up for us. This being the first it didn't have the kitchen installed yet, the idea behind it was to be able to haul your bike and when unloaded it was your common teardrop trailer. I spent two weeks on the road hitting events up and down the west coast, good times!

These last few remind me of my first RV...

Paid $200 for this Winnebago cab over camper back in the late 80s...used it for a couple of hunting seasons before the wood sides got too soft to lift it all the way up on it's 3 spindly legs to put on my truck.

Man...I miss that truck. Shoulda never let that one get away.
