This is why I'll never have a car painted ever again. Takes too long, costs too much money, and then when it's all done, I'm scared to death to drive it. Patina cars for me...

Unfortunately...... accurate. Especially for the Blue-collar guys out here.

You're not entirely wrong, but I'd rather hear nails on the chalkboard than spend the day doing body work. I was really good at accounting classes, which didn't mean I wanted to spend the rest of my life being an accountant.

Just teasing. I can’t tune EFI. Speaking of which I should be getting with you next month to tune the Chevelle. Hope you are doing well.

Can someone please check the temperature down in hell? Because something must be VERY wrong in the world when Jody posts progress pictures on the same day I'm actually in the shop working on my own car and not working on someone elses. That just doesn't happen... might be a sign of the impending apocalypse, lol
Regarding the patina meme that dhutton posted above, does that meme also apply to the guys who spend $150K+ on a build with perfect bodywork and metal fab and then pay tons of money to hide it under airbrushed fauxtina?
There's a reason I haven't painted my car yet either, and that's because I liked to drive it and not worry too much about rock chips (at least when it used to drive, lol.) Although when you start getting rust holes peeking through the patina, it's probably time to do something...
Jody, did Jim burn all the original lead out of the roof/quarter seam, or did he just leave it and skim over it? How's the condition of the filler piece between the back window and trunk and the back glass channel? That's always a problem area on these cars because it's recessed and never drains without help. I've seen guys braze in drain tubes at the bottom corners of the back window channel (similar to a sunroof) and then run drain hoses down and out the trunk floor... works well. Although if the car isn't sitting outside in the rain leaving the glass channel constantly full of water it's not a huge problem, just use a blower to get the water out when you wash it or when it does get wet.
