Oh yeah.... WE have had this conversation haven't we.... LOL

When I give parts away - it always comes with a caveat. Use what you want or can, and if you can't - I don't give a sh!t - sell 'em or toss 'em.

Having said all of that -- there are two things I never want to read about on Lat G again.

1) Any kind of CHARITY build

2) Any "free" work of any kind

Neither of the above EVER turn out well for anyone.

When I took the parts up to the machine shop to have Rick look them over, the valves are what caught his attention. He noticed the amount of heat or heat cycles and asked if it had an oiling issue. Surface of the valves looks fine, the heat marks are on the stem just down from the valve.
Everything else looks good, well besides the broken rocker. Turns out the pistons are huge and won't fit in a stock block.....I'm working on an aluminum and titanium wind chime with the spares.

Wait a minute, I thought I was doing you a favor hauling off a bunch of old greasy parts! Something about a packed shop and living in a condo...besides I gave you some lunch money for the old wheels.

I'm learning about all this stuff and after talking with Rick and rereading through the thread, I thought I'd share.

Funny, it all started with a well built vintage track car.....

I spent the lunch money on one tank of fuel for the rig.... thanks! The tires and wheels I KNEW were good usuable parts... Charely and Chet would have bought them for twice what you paid. LOL I'd have never seen the actual cash though... so better a bird in the hand.

The other parts were just throw aways for me so thanks for saving me a trip to my 3 cubic yard dumpster.

Rick no doubt saw the titanium valves - did a quick calc of 16 X's $150 each - and out of his mouth came the words "these are junk I'll just throw them away for you". Ditto the shaft roller rockers... and the Oliver rods. hahahahahahahaha

None of which is useful unless it fits a motor you're building. I'd have used all that stuff for decorating my next table or stand... Although it would be cool to have an Oliver rod for a TIG torch holder!

In all serioiusness -- the valves are most likely junk... particularly if you wanted to build a max effort motor. I wasn't willing to reuse any of it given the problems I've had... and for me it's cheaper to just buy new than to further risk another rebuild at 15K a pop. This way the new motor builder (Borello) has his hands in every facet of the build.

I really just hope you can use the Wilwood brakes without too much hassle or cost. You're the only other guy on the planet that's building something that isn't a 69 Camaro.

All the motor parts will get put to use, either in the 331 or as yard art...I'm all about recycling! I asked you about the heads because the Jesel rockers are offset and only fit certain heads, still looking into that.

I'm pretty stoked on the brakes, the car already had disc on the front from SSBC, Granada style I think. The BAER set up, front and rear not only look cool but will no doubt work mo better. Still trying to figure out some of the other "stuff"....
