Why is it not a street machine?

When I displayed my truck at Del mar in april, The powers that be asked me if I was going to enter the truck in the street machine of the year award? It may not be a street rod, but it should have gotten into the top 5 for street machine at least. IMO

Don't get upset, it's a fact. By Good Guys' definition and most widely recognized "powers that be" like Hot Rod Magazine and publications and people that have been in the industry a long time, a street machine is a car built after 1954 that is modified for performance and style, regardless of build style but not to be confused with a custom because there aren't many like X-Vette's that can bridge a gap like that but he has the performance to back up the style. A truck in the Street Machine Top 5 would be a long shot but it could happen.

I believe that truck is entered as a 48 which is way too early for it to be considered by Good Guys who gives out the trophy to be a street machine. And it's build style is way more likely to get it considered for Custom Rod of the Year but only if he specified he wanted to be judged for it on his Pro's Pick entry form.

I'm not saying it wasn't a nice truck because it was killer and I took a bunch of photos of it there but a street machine by definition of the award, it ain't. And if you were there and saw all the killer cars that were street machines, you wouldn't be arguing about the truck not getting a Top 5.

And I'm not just shooting from the hip or stating my opinion, I've been to Columbus for the last 7 events and asked to be a SMOY judge this year but had to decline because I had 2 customers entered. If I didn't know, I wouldn't have been asked.

Actually a side story about th 55 convertable i'll post a pick of it aswell but it was built for detroit last year with a 3 year build time fo rhtat show and they were pulling it in the arean and it broke a cam in the motor one of the many those ZR1's have and he coulnt complete dew to that it had to arrive on its own power tough break for a killer car aswell

That 55 is amazing.....what a clean build....

I built in 1999 a pro touring 55 2 dr post all c-4 suspension fully polish with a 1995 lt-4 in it with all the ass. air ,pseats pw ,ps ,it ran 18x9.5 on all four corners ,drove it 12,000 mile in less then two years , then I sold it to build the convertable .
When I was building the convertable I put together a 55 4dr full airide with a 95 lt1 to drive for a year COOL CAR ,lots of fun , I also built a 55 2dr ht in 1992 with a L98 4 sp 4 wheel disc , all the car are in my picturetrail.

The convertable was a 5 year project and some ,I bought the LT5 Zr1 in 1999, and all the 2000 c-5 suspension in 2000, then I started the design on the car .I did everything on the car but the final body paint and interior, some of the build is in my picturetrail .I would like to go in more details on the build but that could take sometime ,I might have even forgot about some of the things I did .
Now to Detriot , on the sunday the week of Detriot I fired the car,[ I had it run on the saturday without coolant 3 time for 30 second ]it started came to idle and ran for about 1 minute and then just started to make some noise and ate itself up on idle .The motor was gone threw by a high eng shop here in Toronto ,what happen were not sure but it , broke the drive on the two cams on # 1 bank and hit all the valves , braking one of them off ,
At this point I was ready to go out back and shoot myself,
I decided to go the detriot knowing I could not compete.
