Okay, I have come up with an idea.
Maybe some of the fabricators can chime in.
Whether it was the two glasses of wine before I went to bed, or something hit me on the head, I don't know, but anyway here it is;
I don't know if it is do-able, but am proceeding with the idea anyway, and we'll see what happens.
I have a 13 year old nephew who has Muscular Dystrophy.
I had thought - Wouldn't it be cool if he could ride around the race track with me in my car?
Okay so what would I need to make that possible?
Unfortunately MD makes the muscles weaker and weaker, year by year, so he is in a state now, where his arms and neck muscles are getting pretty weak also.
So using a wheelchair, such as this as a model;
What I
think I could do, is construct a complete chair, that would bolt in, in-place of the existing passenger seat, with the appropriate body supports.
It would definitely need a horseshoe type cushion, around the head, to support the head position, and then a tether to the helmet, to prevent too much fore and aft movement.
I'm thinking of a cushioned version of a merge between the nascar type seat and the wheelchair show above.
Simply using the existing mustang seat bolt pattern as a mount. I think this is doable.
Now this is not a go, just yet.
First I am not a seat fabricator, so I might need some design help, and then find a local fabricator who will do this.
Second I have to get his (divorced - strained relationship) parent's approval
- I decided I am not going to let any ex spousal animosity bother me
Third, my nephew would have to want to do this - But I want it to be a surprise. I think he would like this
Fourth Doctor or physiotherpist approval (I am not planning any high G turns)
The hopefully get the engine together, and get the seat constructed, and get track approval etc.
Yeah a ride on the street would be nice too, but I think a careful roar around the track would be that much more fun, for him.
So what do you guys think, before I embark on this mission?
