Default scca? racecar transmissions

A friend and I were discussing the transmission that these road racers use and it is a lot like the infinity G35 we had that you put it in drive then bump it to manual.. Do they make a controller like this for the 4L80E or do they use a special transmission to get the type of shifting performance they want.. I know the systym looks simple but I believe it to be very intricate... Any brand type/manufacturer or just any info would be greatly appreciated

You mean like Twist Machine's Shrifter?

It's a paddle shift though, are you looking for something more like a Tip-Tronic?

Manumatic technology came to prominence once the OE manufacturers made the switch to electronic transmissions. The computer is able to speak directly to the electric shift solenoids allowing for quick, tunable shifts. To get a good understanding, do a search in the transmission section and start with the following website or give me a call: Powertrain Control Solutions

street and latenight thanks for the reply. I was referring to the road racers that had a sequential tranny. I have seen the shrifter but I was referring to a floor console mounted version. they are usually in BMWs and Mercedes. I believe I seen on one speed in a late model Mustang also. I am going to go check out the website u suggested street and see how it goes.. thanks again

It would help to know which series or class in SCCA that you are questioning.

Most of all championship series use a sequential Hewland (Trans-am) or a Weismann (GT). But German Touring Car's use a Ricardo sequential six... and the Asian market uses the Xtrac.
