Default many turbo questions

Hello guy's i'm in the process of buying a car from a member here and also want to start planning the build. I have question's cuz i'm new to turbo's and want to do this right the first time. My first question is will a crate motor (ZZ4-ZZ383) work with a twin turbo setup. What about tran's, auto or manual or does it make different. I would like an auto but if the manual would work better then that's what i'll do. The car will be something i drive but also hit the track ever so often. And last were is a good place to buy turbo's.

Any motor can be good for turbo's if its got the correct parts inside it. Do you want to source a custom kit or buy and off the shelf setup?

Thank's for the reply, see i do'nt know if the ZZ4 or ZZ383 is good enough cuz i dont know anything about turbo's. As for buying im not sure there either. If you could show me some site's that sale turbo's and kit's.

Out of the crate the zz4 might be able to handle a small amount of boost without breaking. The bottom end and heads will need work and strengthening of you want longevity / reliablility.

Pick up Corky Bells "Maximum Boost" and go to one of his websites - http://www.bellengineering.net/ Also check out http://www.bankspower.com/twin-turbo-products.cfm for some info on a kit. Gale and Corky in my opinion are the ones to learn from.

The best way to turbo a car is to do the research and determine which setup is best for YOU. What do you feel comfortable with fuel injected, carb blow through, super charger, turbo, etc. Take the time and you'll only buy things once and enjoy the car much more.

When it comes to trannys it doesn't matter if it is a manual or auto. If it is for drag racing purposes an auto would be better due to not lossing as much boost in between shifts.

you guys are being very helpfull

so i might just build a motor then buying a crate engine if i would have to change parts anyway.
