Default Can you fit a 295/35/18 on a lowered 71 Camaro?

New here to the Pro-Touring world and absolutely dig the look. I hope you guys will chime in and give me some definitive answers. I am looking for the widest rubber I can fit INSIDE the rear wheel wells of my 71 Z without any pounding, cutting or rolling of the lips.
the car is lowered 2" with an otherwise stock leaf spring set up so the tire is definetely going to sit up in the wheel well. I was informed by more than 1 source that 275/40's on a 9' rim is the safe way to go. I have that tire on an 8" rim on an El Camino and am looking for something more aggressive for the Camaro. I had a 295/35/18 KDW unmounted that I stuffed up in there and it seemed like it would fit. But without having it mounted on a rim I couldn't be sure. Will this tire work on a 9,9.5, or even a 10" rim if it had the right backspacing? Remember I don't want to cut the lip. So, If any of you have this combo, what would be the correct backspacing? Also the front tire comes into play if I can fit the 295/35 in the back. What would be the correct tire to run in the front on an 8'rim? It needs to have the correct sidewall height to compliment the rear tire. Again, wider is better.
I hope I get some good feedback on this. Thanks Don
