Default Where to buy materials?

I was wondering where to buy materials for fabrication. I was wondering where some of you guys buy materials. Do you guys buy online, or local, or what? Any help would be appreciated

Depends where you are located. Here in So Cal Industrial Metal Supply is king. Have yet to find a supplier that can beat the overall cost of raw materials. Free delivery too!! And Im in Ventura county and they are in LA county, an hour drive for them. I have ordered just two sticks of aluminum bar and it was still a better price than anyone around and free shipping to my residential location. Guy (sorry, I forgot your name, been here a few times) actually got out of the truck and was happy to help off load the bars.

If anyone is in the LA area IMS is the route to go. JR

Where are you at? Look under metal or steel suppliers in the yellow book. Do some searching on Craigslist also.

Yep -- depends on where you live -- I have dozens of places with all manor of metals - exotic and otherwise here in the Seattle area... Lots of time I get a deal on buying "scraps" oddball sizes - etc that work fine for what I'm doing... and then I just "stock" 3/4" square tube - 1" sq - some round tube - flat sheet in a few gauges - and various scrap billet aluminum to make stuff out of... I personally like to be able to just walk over to the rack and grab some stock - rather than trying to figure out what I want to build - then figuring the materials - then going to get it etc.
