Default Fords New Coyote 5.0 V-8

Just got motor trend and this thing looks impressive. 415hp from 5.0! That is right there with the Camaro LS3 at 6.2 liters! Catching up to the Europeans in hp/liter. Its good ford is making the base GT more competitive, the Shelby is really more on par with the vette (base not z06) in price and performance.

Given the old GT was not far off the camaro and charger performance with a measly 315 hp, the new stang should really cook! And the new v6 almost as much power as the old V-8.

Its hard to keep up. When I started building my g-machine mustang in 2002 a gt-40 302 crate motor (efi, supercharged, methanol injected)seemed like a better way to go than the 4.6 (both in terms of packaging and performance even supercharged), and certainly more cost efficient. Then in 2003 the terminator 4.6 supercharged engine was the hot ticket. Big bucks but capable of 600hp. Then the 5.4 supercharged shelby motor in 2007 worth 800hp with a ken belle blower. And now the new 5.0! My car wasn't even finished until 2005, and in just 5 years cutting edge became old news!

now they just need a double clutch tranny like the gtr or porsche pdk.

Is that in the Feb issue or March issue? I have not received my March yet.

EDIT: I just found my issue under some other mail. Nice. That engine looks promising for the Ford guys. I also noticed a little(Feb issue page 22) blurb about a 6.2 liter V8 going in the Raptor next year with 411 hp and 434 lb ft of torque. That should move that truck pretty good.

Makes ya wonder WTH took em so long to produce a worthy engine.
It's impressive out of a 5.0L.

As with anything tho.....1st year of production, lets just sit back and watch what breaks.

Default coyote 5.0 v8

about time is right. $25,000 as a crate motor is ridiculous though. http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=8022

Chevy guys can get a fully dressed ls3 with the hot cam 485 hp for half that price!

Except, of course, that's not the new Coyote 5.0. Instead, the link you provided is to a Grand American Road Racing engine based on the old 4-cam modular motor!

The engine in your link:

I work for Ford and will be the first to admit they've always had horrid-looking engine compartments and interiors compared to GM...I'm glad to see they've adressed both areas well, interiors first pretty much across the board and now under the hood.

Looking good while going fast...

This would be a great swap for my 77 pickup. I bet tons of 1st gen mustangs will try and squeeze it in them as well.
