2005 ctsv t56 swap

has any body out there used a t56 from ctsv for theyre swap. the t56 will be going in a 69 camaro. by what I can see I would have to eliminate shifter and out put (three prong).

1. will a standard t56 shifter fit

2. how do I change to yoke , do I have to change out put shaft or tail housing,

I have not even touched it yet but figure get as much info as possible before I do

I've been wondering this same thing since I have a 68 camaro that I'm swapping a 5.3 with a CTSV t56. Hopefully someone will chime in to answer both our questions

well I tell you what if I cant change the 3 prong yoke, I could just build a drive shaft that could mate to trans.

now the problem with that is what do you for the rear? because as far as I know U joints create a vibration that is cancelled out with the opposing U joint,( thats why they place u joints 90 degrees from eachother with opposing angles. ) but if I dont have 1 on trans out put shaft im almost sure ill get vibration at around 75mph-90mph

now if I can find a yoke that will mate to a 9" rear end from a 2010 camaro or cts v. may work. chances are slim.

so I guess build a custom yoke to fit rear end or viseversa (trans )

some body out there has to make a driveshaft conversion where both ends are ctsv style joionts ( euro style ) and different type yokes --- splines 27 etc....

if i remember i'll look under the girlfriends cts-v when i get home and look. also yes you would have to change the output shaft on that trans because its a bolt on flange.

the new camaro uses the same design and i had to replace a drive shaft, fuel tank, front and rear flanges and all the bolts and the exhaust system because the 3 bolts that hold it on failed. i would rather have u joints than a rubber cuppler. something to think about.

ok looking at the transmission i am going to say no. there is just too many things that would need to be changed to make it work. the shifter part is the main issue then the output shaft houseing and also the output shaft its self.
