I am starting this new thread as Jake of
www.jakesrodshop.com is packaging up the C6 front suspension that he put together for my ChevyIIpost. This project has been on going for too long but I am trying to make some progress now as time allows. Some 5 years ago this was a fresh idea but alot of you have beat me to the completion of your Lat-G ChevyII's. The front suspension is an area that I made a bad choice and am now paying my stupid tax and replacing the "street rod" set up that I purchased from Jim Meyer Racing. I bought this set up some 5 to 6 years ago based on the assuance from Mr. Meyers that this set up had great geometry based on his racing experience. Chassis Works was my second choice but they had small brakes and Mustang II suspension and alot of propietary parts. I was to ignorant at the time to even ask the right questions to understand what I was asking for or getting. Soon after John Parsons IIMuch hit the seen and Katz of Art Morrison fame did a clean sheet design for him. Great stuff!! It got me reading and learning about the vast complexities of front suspension geometry and after some basic measurements of bumpsteer, camber gain, and caster I new I was in trouble with the JMeyer stuff. At the beginng of this year I started trying to hunt down Katz or someone of his skill set to fix what I had purchased. After talking to Art Morrison himself(he returned my phone message) I got in touch with Jake and talked with him about getting a major tune up on my JMeyer stuff. He had worked with Katz on his sub frame set ups. Katz being the very talented guy he is, how should I say it, is a little eccentric and now driving semi truck over the road. Jake tugged and pulled for me on Katz but could never get him to follow through. I was asking him to fix someone elses junk and I guess that doesn't light his fire very well. So Jake and I where brain storming at the beginning of Oct and he is now working on ChevyII front clips to market himself but my frame width is differant. Jake played around with his geometry, cnc steering arms and the C6 stuff and was able to get some very good numbers. This was going to mean that I have to toss all my JMeyer stuff and go back to bear frame rails. Being the great guy that I have found Jake to be and due to him not being able to pull info from Katz he offered to set me up with a sweet deal to help reduce my stupid tax!
Jake has been custom fabbing up an engine crossmember, upper a-arm mounts and spec'n out a steering rack to provide me with a hub to hub set up to attach to my frame and keep my car going where I point the steering wheel!
I will be posting pics of what is on there now and me cussing as I cut and grind it off my frame to make room for the Jake /C6 upgrade.
