Default Best harness for the LS1 swap??

Hello,

I have been off here for awhile and have lost a little information that I thought I saved...but anyway.

I will be installing a Ls1 into my 68 and I am in need of a harness. I want a good quality one so that I won't have to worry about wiring gremlins later. I will need a complete harness for the car itself front to back as well as for the engine, thinking about using speartech for it.

Any inputs on this item would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

you need to run 2 harnesses- one for the body- one for the efi- and mate them together- very easy- a couple of power leads and fuel pump- electric fan etc.

American Auto Wiring is the best choice for the body harness- they are great people who sell a great product- look to the left of your screen - they are a site sponsor-

i went with a Techrods harness for about half the cost of speartech- very happy with it

wait for me performance- for computer- $160 for computer and flash!!-chris

I also bought the Speartech harness. I am sure there other suitable choices like the one Chris mentions above but not knowing much about LSx platform (me) I chose somebody with great service record to help me trouble shoot in the event that I had problems. I am not even close to running but I fit it up and it falls into place nicely. Here is a pic of

What about a stock harness? Or is the after market better?

stock harness works fine, but will have a lot of extra wires you won't be using, and you're stuck with their routing lengths and figuring out which wires go where. The aftermarket harnesses like Speartech eliminate vats (vehicle anti-theft which has to be bypassed or eliminated in a stock harness), fully labeled, and can be ordered in custom lengths to fit your mounting location and routing preference.
