Default Now THIS is autocross...

I know some road race guys scoff at autocross and act like they are all the Goodguys peanut, but a real autocross course can be pretty fast and certainly challenging.

Went to the Porsche Club El Toro event and had some fun.. it was a great day and did did a lot of tuning, eventually Doug at Global West came to the conclusion we need more front bar to help ditch the push. Turn in was great as was corner exit.

Course was about 1.5 miles long and we were hitting between 80 and 90 mph in spots. We ended up getting around 12-14 runs.. which was a lot. I was beat by the time I drove home.

BP got an extra workout since I let wheelman Bill Chin drive here since his Camaro had an oiling issue.

The video is better if you go to youtube and full screen it..

Great vid! Here in the sticks they set up a big course like that and man its fun. I slid sideways through the finish the last event and still smiling ear to ear even though I got a DNF.

nice!!

interesting on the front bar. i always thought a larger front bar would increase the push.

It depends.. Think of a bell curve.. push can happen on either side of the curve.. too much bar can push.. too little can push..

Smarter people than myself can explain it.. We kept adding bump.. when it maxed it was decided we needed more bar and then we will turn down the bump and start again until it's right. The phrase I heard was "the car tells us what it wants".. in this case we think it's saying "more bar"

This whole exercise began when we decided to remove the rear bar and build a car based on compliance.. it's certainly taking some getting used to and some work.. remember that roll, to a point, isn't bad.

Now that is a autocross.. I do alot of road racing and track days, but would love to take a shot at a event like that. I hate autocrosses that are a sea of pylons.
