You were "close" Charley -- but the dyno sheet shows just a slightly elevated level of horses under the hood....

Engine builder says 50 #'s is all we need -- and that with a roller cam and RedLine synthetic oil (straight 40wt) she's good to go....

I told him "my rule" which I learned along time ago re: 10#'s per 1000 rpms -- and he just laughed and said "yeah - but that's at what bearing clearances and blah blah blah...."

I'll take his word for it.

Must be the car that I kept that is 520 hp...You owe me more dough. Now if we can just keep the Tasmanian Devil from killing himself before he learns how to handle that much car properly on the track. He has already spun it more time than I ever did.

I was just looking for a rise out of you and everybody else. My engine builder would agree. The whole 10lbs per thousand rpm is old news. That all started with Smokey Yunick way back when. I will say that your oil temp was only 205 and racing temps may net you less. I just switched to Red Line so I'm not sure how it's viscosity drops off from 205 to say 230-250 in oil temp. I know my Brad Penn partial synthetic dropped 10 psi from 210 oil temp to 230-250. I'm changing my oil cooler and oil for a reason. I'd take a look next time out to see if you should change to a 50 weight. I 'm running 15w-50. These race engine builder like to build them loose to cool the bearings. That baby is a high winding haas.
