Default Where to buy VW style hood latch

Ok so I know Screamin Performance has a bolt in for Camaros, but I am looking for a place to buy just the upper and lower latches.

Someone has to know an easily accessible place to buy them??? I know the hot rod supply places sell them for 80 bucks and up, but I found a post that shows the earlier upper latch is beefier.

Anyone know a good supplier?

Found a Porsche place that has the nicer beefier style.

944 style porsche latches.

Also, the VW Thing latch is the beefier design. Go figure?

I bought mine from THE THING SHOP in Chandler AZ.

Upper: part number 175823507 $80.00
Lower: part number 411823509 $90.00

Yes, a little pricey but I wanted the heavier ones for piece of mind.

I bought a Lokar cable assembly.

You can see more comparison pics of the various light duty and heavy duty pieces available in my "Lou's Change" build thread - link below.

Light duty / cheap / knock off upper:

Heavy Duty / expensive / actual VW upper:

Light Duty / cheap / knock off lower:

Heavy Duty / expensive / actual VW lower:

Hope this helps.
