Always been my dream to own a nice automotive shop and might as well try while my friend and I are young. Both of us have always loved cars and now we finally have the drive to do it, not to mention everyone talking about how they wish they could have done this or that. We decided to just grab our nuts and go for it, I don't want to regret not trying.
My friends dad has a garage which he never goes in anymore, we have everything we need and no overhead. I'm 20 and my friend is 19, we're hoping use this car to sort of get our name out there around town. If luck is on our side, we'd like to have this business get big enough to support us while we go to college. Plan really is to get cheap parts cars to strip and sell parts along with new parts while doing restorations on the side.
We got the big idea a few days ago and yesterday I remembered seeing this car while driving around a year ago. We stopped by yesterday and the guy loved the idea of our shop and he has seen many of my old cars around town. He donated us the car and would like us to mess around with his collection later on. We're still pretty much in shock and super happy for the car.
He said it was an original 396 SS and has all the signs except for a sweep dash. Only rust is a little on the quarters and the rear window. My friend picked up the car today and we are going to put it on the lift, get the front clip off and try to get the frame off the body. He's going to take it to his work and sand blast the frame. This weekend I want to get the body work finished send it to paint. It will be a budget build since we are super broke but it should cost much at all to restore. All the rides in the garage are his dads. He owns the SS nova and 69 SS 396 chevelle though.
Should be a fun ride! Forgot to mention we already have a 396 SS engine ready to go in
Sweet garage! And from the looks of all of the tool boxes, y'all are equipped to the job. You guys are on the right track by starting at 19 and 20 years old. Good luck!!
