Default GM Abody Disc Brake Questions (Specifically '69 Chevelle)

First off, sorry for the long title. But Im hoping this thread will pop up when anyone searches for a decent mid-level braking upgrade that wont break the bank. I did hours of searching and writing down part numbers and pricing to hopefully come up with something that makes sense to put on my car that will provide great stopping power and not cost a gazillion dollars. I do have a few unanswered questions that I hope someone can answer for me (they can all be answered some way or another - either by emailing the supplier or Tobin himself).

My thought process is this is a street driven car that maybe gets 5-6000 miles per summer. Its not continually punished but I like being able to stop every time I put my foot on the brake consistently. Additionally if I ever have the opportunity to dodge orange cones Id like to be able to do so confidently.

Front-
------------------------------
Calipers: I thought I should go with C6 Calipers. I know there isn't much difference between the C6 and C5 calipers but I like the idea of having extra meat on both my calipers and my rotors. With that in mind, I'll probably purchase these either used from Ebay or from Kore3 (whom has from Ive seen phenomenal pricing on those calipers and abutments).

Hubs: I was considering the Wilwood 270-7037 forged hub but the description says "Intended for use with aluminum hats". I don't want to be locked into Wilwood rotors. I would like to be able to grab parts from the local parts store. So that leaves me with Kore 3 hubs that come with all of the hardware and bearings and will allow me to use C6 rotors.

Rotors: I want rotors with painted/powdercoated hats so they don't immediately rust the second I get them mounted. Im considering StopTech rotors at the moment.

Pads: EBC Redstuff?

Rear-
-----------------------------------
Most of my question lie on the rear conversion from drums. I really want a good braking system and when I set out piecing this system together I really thought I wanted at least a 2 piston set up. I see the C6 stuff is a large single piston design so if its good enough for the Vette it must be good enough for my Chevelle right? But the Kore 3 conversion is over $1k. I haven't seen much else in the way of conversions that includes a parking brake. Do I need a parking brake? I don't know but I sure feel like its a good idea. (I cant say Ive ever used one).

I really want commonality so if I need to buy a set of rotors I can get all 4 at once instead of trying to piece it all together. From what Ive seen here though is that I'll either need to sacrifice commonality or sacrifice my wallet. Please tell me if Im wrong.

So at this point Im strongly considering a CPP http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...557RWBKP12.htm kit or a Right Stuff kit? I don't know what rotors come in those kits (as far as vehicle).

-------------------------------------
Brake Booster: Really wanting to do the Astrovan mod. But Ive read in a couple places that a mustang booster will work as well. I recall though that Mustang booster didn't provide as much braking pressure.
Master: Use the Astrovan master or find a 1 1/8" bore master from an outside source?
Proportioning Valve: Yes
=========================

Even if you don't comment - thank you for reading. I hope Im not overly noob with the conversion choices and questions here. I estimate with my choices that I'll be around $1200 bucks?
Cliff notes: Need good brakes - don't want to spend a gazillion dollars

Simular to what I'm doing with a 70 and z06.....kore3 set up for the front is great..you can spend more and use a ats AFX spindle..this will allow the use of stock gm corvette hubs..rotors and calipers.
For the rear the best in my opinion...(allows you to use brakes of one car and manufacturer ) is the expensive kore3 set up, try to find good used calipers and rotors before you buy the rest of the kit. Then you can lower the price by not getting those parts from Tobin
With that rear set up down the road you can buy the hybrid floater set up from the gmr and that uses stock gm corvette hubs for the rear too and better supports the weight of the car.
One thing before you order anything from Tobin at kore3...download his templates and make sure your "potential brake set up will clear your wheels unless of course you want to replace them too
Cheers and good luck

Ah yeah - I forgot to post I already did the template test. I could jam the z06/CTS-V stuff in there but my overall goal of not completely blowing my budget would be shot.

What about CTS-V (Gen 1) or Even Gen 5 Camaro SS brakes? I didn't find much in that regard when I went searching.

No idea...sorry. The Vette stuff seems to be the most popular swaps that I've seen....also to me makes more sense when you do need to replace a part and you can just hit up any autoparts store

Default C6 z06

I have a 72 GTO and I'm running C6 Z06 brakes front and rear. I'm using ATS spindles and steering arms in the rear Tobin at kore 3 set me up with the caliper brackets. I'm also using a hydro boost which made a world of difference. It's a great setup and is by far the cheapest setup and easiest to get parts.

Forgot about this thread. Thanks for your feedback Judge.

Ive since when a slightly different direction. Ive decide to do the following -
Gen 1 CTS-V calipers ($100 each from Amazon new)
Front Brackets from Kore 3
Turn Down Drum hubs
'10+ Camaro SS Rotors
Rear caliper brackets from FlynBye

And winging it for the E-Brake as I have no idea what to do about that yet.

Still have to choose brake pads and rotor brands
