... and in GM's infinite wisdom they have already announced they will gladly destroy the value of those cars by selling up to 5X the quantity the very next year with what is the same car. While a 68 Camaro and 69 Camaro are quite distinguishable, the 14 and 15 will be indistinguishable, so good luck with the value buyers of the 500 2014s. Maybe they will paint the wheels and mirrors a different color
This is becoming very common with GM - turn out an exclusive car with "guaranteed low production" then the very next year either make everything once exclusive an option on the same car so you can build the exact same thing, or make the exact same model but
add something to it, hammer those out in numbers, and just kill the value of the previous with numbers and an upgrade. Strange mindset IMO.
I waited to buy a 2011 Carbon Edition Vette
used because I have noticed this trend and sure enough, in 2012 you could get a Z07 upgrade and such and build the exact car that was guaranteed low numbers. What is different? They painted the mirrors and wheels a little different color. If it wasn't for the massive sticker on the door and the specific VIN code for the Carbon, it would be a waste to think there is any value there, and indeed, the Z07 pkg hurt the value quite a bit, which I took advantage of v. taking the loss by being a first buyer. And IIRC you could PCM susp control the next year, so technically an upgraded version of the Carbon.
Thinking you can buy anything truly exclusive from GM will just leave you
and
the very next year.
