I saw a picture of Charley on here once, without the bird finger sticking up, and I hardly recognized him at first. It's his signature pose, I assume. I asked Greg, his bestie, about the pose, and Greg crawfished on me...had no explanation at all, concerning the permanent stiffness of Charley's middle finger.
