Default Need help from the Mustang Crowd

OK I am looking for some help from everyone. I know hardly anything about mustangs. I just had my daughter and her boyfriend move down with us to start college and work at Amazon. Tyler my daughters boyfriend ask me if I might be able to help him look into this old mustang his mom has, he is not into cars at all. I have not been able to see the car in person, but here are 2 pics he got me.
Sorry for the cell phone pics, now questions I need help with.

1) What year is this car?
2) Once I get to see the car where should I look for the vin# and where/what other info/things should I look for??
3) What are the best websites to research mustangs??
4) I have no real idea the condition of the car, but hope to in the next few weeks, I may have the opportunity to buy the car for a friends & family discount so trying to get quickly educated.
5) And lastly might be stupid question but by the pics rough guess on how much to pay?

Now I know there is a ton of unknowns here till I can get way more info and see the car in person, but give me what you can. I know the car has been sitting for years.

Thanks

67 or 68 fastback. worth alot if it is a real gt350. check the vin on it and see what the letter code is. That is the fastest way to tell what you got. Depending on the rust, even if its rotted out as a plain jane fastback its worth $5-7k, if its solid $10-12k as it sits. If its a legit GT350, probably double that.

The additional side marker light (near the front wheel arch) would make it a '68 Mustang. There will also be a side reflector at the rear (hard to tell in these photos). Also the hood and larger headlights are '68 Shelby style. I'd be interested to know if it turns out to be genuine or a clone.

Mustangattitude.com should give you all you need to verify a real gt350. Should have a Shelby registry tag on left fender apron.

Thanks for the info guys, I will start to brush up on my mustang education tonight. Hope to go see the car in about 2 weeks. I highly doubt it's a real GT or anything like that, I don't ever end up that lucky! LOL But if it just turned out to be a fairly solid car would be nice. To me after looking at the one picture I am wondering if it even has a motor in it.

As said above, looks like 68, vin tag is stamped on the left front on top of the inner fender (no removable tag), if there is a tag you can check it on the shelby registry. There should be a tag on the driver door that list all the options, link below will help decode. If it's a shelby it's worth a pretty penny restored or not, if it's not real it's still worth good money, could be finished as a clone or bullitt.

The rear frame rails, front floors and cowl are the first to rust on these.
Hope this helps.

Mike

I don't care what it is - but if it's real - I hate you!

LOL

Hope this turns out as neat as it "sounds".

Think "Bullitt" the movie. That Mustang is arguably one of the most iconic movie cars ever. As a die hard Chevy guy, that is one of very very few Mustangs I would consider buying.
