Default What is this hole for?

Can anyone tell me if this hole leads to the interior & it's purpose? I am referring to the 3 x 6 triangular hole in the cowl facing sideways in the center of the pic.

I reach into it & I think I can feel the Vintage Air box, but can't tell for sure. If it is the fresh air intake for the factory HVAC system, do I need it with a V/A unit?
I ask because this leads back to an issue with my car where on extended driving, (over an hour) on hot, humid days, I get condensation dripping from under the dash, coming from the A/C ducts.
If this is a massive air leak coming in under the dash, seems to me blocking this hole may be the answer.
Do I need fresh air coming into the car, or is recirculating & cooling what is in there & cracking the windows sufficient?
What about the similar hole on the drivers side? That seems to lead nowhere, but I can't tell for sure.

As always, thanks for the help!!

If you drill a hole it goes to the interior. It's the back side of the firewall toe pan reinforcement.

My guess is -- if you take off your kick panels (the side panels down by your feet) -- the vent (they called it Astro vent) probably aren't sealed off well... the flapper vent in there needs to be sealed. Usually the rubber seal on those vents is all dried up and rotten - so even if they were closed - they'd still leak like crazy.

I used that hole when I changed the sub to body cage nut.
I came in handy for that. Don't know what else you might need it for in the future.

Lazy me.... I dug around & realized the hole led nowhere. It was a false alarm. Too bad. I was looking for an easy solution to the under dash rain forest.

Oh well...

I was referring to condensation from the A/C system dripping from under the dash, not a water leak.

Mine only leaks in the trunk from around the trunk gasket, although I think I got the right gasket finally to fix it. Here's hoping...
